twenty four inches [12/28/2006 18:42:06]

Dang. I'd been thinking about getting a bigger, or possibly second monitor for a while now. I think what finally convinced me was this post about how a large monitor is actually cheaper than a small monitor (because of the value of productivity gains).

Since my parents kept asking me what I wanted for christmas and I didn't know, I finally told them to just chip in and help me buy a new monitor. So I finally picked one out today.

I went from a 17" CRT to a Gateway 24" widescreen LCD monitor.

It's.... Huge.

I've got two big firefox windows, several trillian windows, and the entire desktop from my mac running in a VNC window, all on one screen.

I'm just sitting here in awe. :)

I think next up is a USB to VGA adapter so I can hook up my old monitor right next to it.

I got a Samsung 22" widescreen for Christmas. Not quite as big, but I'm having the same experience. IT'S HUGE! I'm sure the productivity gain will come in once I stop staring at it.
